  • My name is Pete Ulibarri – I'm a dad, husband, teacher, carpenter, and disc golfer. Currently I’m a stay at home dad where I have been homeschooling my 9 year old son for the last 5 years. This lifestyle has helped me grow as a father, a disc golfer, and educator. I spent my youth and twenties riding and competing in BMX freestyle. In 2009, I decided to start playing the game of disc golf in order to catch up with my dad and my younger brother Paul Ulibarri. Once I started playing, I was hooked, which is why I’ve spent the last 13 years playing, competing, volunteering, teaching the game, mentoring, running tournaments and growing the sport here in Arizona, as well as designing and establishing new courses.

Over the last 13 years, I’ve competed in 136 PDGA events with 35 wins. My most notable wins have been several State championships A-tiers and most recently taking down the 2021 Memorial championships in the MP40 division.

  • My disc experience started with ultimate frisbee in high school and lasted through my late 20s. In September 2020, I switched from competitive ultimate to disc golf and quickly grew a liking to the sport. I enjoy casual rounds the most but also enjoy competing. I joined this board because I am amazed at the opportunity disc golf can provide to individuals. I’m excited to help guide an organization that desires to help athletes receive higher level education through non-traditional college athletics. I will be bringing my experiences of co-organizing Color of Ultimate and Color of Disc Golf to the table.

  • My professional background is in electrical engineering and I currently manage the engineering team for Bushnell Optics and coordinate the Bushnell Disc efforts within the company. I started playing disc golf in high school in Kansas City and it's followed me ever since. I started a disc golf club in college at Notre Dame and had the opportunity to compete against other schools in our region and at Collegiate Nationals. More recently I try to balance family life with 4 kids, work and keeping a rating above 900. I created the first version of our disc golf rangefinder in 2019 and have enjoyed working with our team to grow Bushnell Disc the past few years.

The foundation's mission is especially important to me because I experienced the ups and downs of collegiate disc golf myself. The lack of infrastructure and support back then limited our club and limited the sport at the collegiate level. The foundation is a meaningful step in the right direction to support the student-athletes directly and indirectly grow the sport at all levels.
